So, let's just start this. From the start of this campaign I had favored Obama over Clinton, but Obama and Mcain tied in my books. It's odd to see that Obama won, I really was expected a red US these four more years. So,I find it odd how people think Obama is already the president; that at that night they kicked Bush out and made Obama the president. There's two thigns I fear(ed) about Obama getting elected. First off, if he's to get assassinated I'm pretty positive that there'd be some major riots, or atleast a few small ones. I really do not wish for that in anyway. Second, I fear how he's going to react to the War in Iraq and with Social welfare programs. Okay, there's really three. Third, people. I feared us citizens. I figured people would be like,"Oh yeah! black man in office we can do what we want now." To my surpise, it wasn't the blacks doing this. For you to know, I go to a primarily black and Mexican school, me being Mexican. So, I went to school today, and there were a group of kids walking to halls without permission, and their response to a teacher was,"We don't have to get out of the halls or your way, Obama's in office now!" Five of them said that. They were also all Mexican. It was at this time that I realised it's really fellow Mexicans I should more so have had my concerns about. I was actually shocked that people had used that reason for disobeying the rules.
I really hope Obama does good things while in office, but I more so hope citizens don't do stupid shit because he's in office. I've noticed an increasingly ammount of student unrest at my school. Kids no longer show up, they back talk teachers, and break even more rules openly since Obama became presidential elect. I've also noticed an increase in racisim since. Not just the people saying,"I'm going to leave America because it's now black!" Racial slurs keep getting tossed around, and racial "termination" plans, if you will, have seem to been growing in an increasing ammount.
All I have to say is, because a Black man is president doesn't mean it will change. Because a Democrat is in office means it will change. Obama could be white, Mexican, Asian, or any race and would still do the exact same things. Please, if anything don't dismiss him or a race now. We've come so far in acceptance of other races, don't fuck it up now.
In short: People already acting stupid because of the first non-white man will come to office. On both sides.
