Don’t you know wrestling is fake?

Posted on March 16, 2022March 16, 2022 by Joshua

No shit it is fake. Everyone knows it is fake. However, this insulting question has always pissed me off. People say it in a way that tries to dismiss all of wrestling as fake. They also use the same logic towards magic. People use it like a badge to show how smart they are and yet every time I hear it I can’t help but thing, “How fucking stupid are you?” I say this as someone who doesn’t even like wrestling.

So, yes, wrestling is fake. With that said, it is not as fake as you think it is. People who spout this line always use it to dismiss the entirety of wrestling. They’re acting like the punches are fake, throws are fake, the jumps are fake, and all that. You can watch numerous interviews with old wrestlers to see the damage they’ve done to their bodies. Those injuries aren’t fake. Even Stephanie Sterling has commented on their injuries from wrestling. There was a big issue a few years ago over wrestlers wanting health insurance, which they still don’t have, or to be real contract workers allowing them to work where ever they want. They need health insurance due to them constantly injuring their bodies, with this “fake” sport.

Yes, some of the punches are pulled. However, due to the heat of the moment it can be hard to properly pull a punch. Same with kicks and many other moves. Some moves are obviously fake. There’s a clip of two wrestlers doing the Egyptian Hypno Snake. Yeah, that is clearly fake. Those tricks are needed in wrestling. It lets them stop, calm down, and breathe. That way the attack that follows up can be pulled to do less damage to both wrestlers. If you notice, each one of those “special” moves is followed by a big slam or jump. Moves where if you aren’t given that time to stop and cool down can badly injure everyone involved.

If you want to know how real wrestling can be then look up the injuries and deaths. Here are a few examples: Bret Hart broke his sternum after he went chest first into the metal railing. Shawn Michaels once sustained a back injury during a match against The Undertaker that prevented him from wrestling from 1998-2002. Triple H legit tore his quadriceps. John Cena sustained a broken nose at the hands of Seth Rollins. Those are some big injuries for something that is fake. How about all the deaths that happened in the ring due to repeated abuse? For such a fake sport there are lots of bad injuries and deaths. What’s fake is the story lines, when certain special moves come out, when weapons get involved, and who wins the matches. That’s it.

An actual interest of mine, magic, gets the same flak constantly. I understand how you wrestling fans feel on this one. People dismiss what you like because it is fake. See, someone can see 1 move you did during a magic trick and claim you didn’t fool them. They will claim they know how the trick works. They will call you all sorts of names. The second you tell them to do it they back the fuck down, but still claim they know how you did the trick. I am working a deck of cards. You saw 1 move out of 10. You know 10% of the trick but can’t even do that 10%.

One day I was doing a simple trick for some students at work. One of my coworkers immediately snatched the deck of cards from my hands and told them how I did it. However, she was actually wrong. When I told her to do it she messed up. Then I did another trick. Where someone chooses a card, puts it in the middle of the deck, I do some shuffling, and then fan out the cards. Their card is face up and all the others are face down. I threw my deck at her and told her to do that. Not only is it rude that the stupid asshole snatched the cards from my hand but she tried to ruin it for students. The funny part is she got it wrong. I also once did a trick for an old boss and she said I didn’t fool her because she saw me put her card on the bottom of the deck. That wasn’t even a trick. I just put it there openly. She, and others, kept insisting I didn’t fool them. Despite them not knowing at all how the trick works.

People will call me a faker and all sorts of stuff. They get so mad that I often have people snatching props out from my hands that I just switched to pure impromptu tricks now. It is that annoying. People need to prove I’m a faker. I don’t pull a David Blaine. I do not say magic is real. I tell everyone, “Want to see a trick?”. Key word: trick. People will mock me, “You like magic, don’t you know it’s fake?” yeah no shit. You do it then if it’s so easy because it is fake.

You brainlets need to stop being such dismissive cunts. Yes, both wrestling and magic are fake. However, there is massive amounts of skill that goes into both. There is a massive amount of danger that goes into wrestling, and sometimes magic. Magic requires such subtle and fast movements that when you see 1 move you more than likely missed 10 in that instant. There’s also fake moves which are done to trick people more. If anyone you know dismisses either magic or wrestling because it is fake be sure to call them a fucking idiot for me.
