Shut up about SBMM

Posted on August 27, 2022September 11, 2022 by Joshua

Do you know the one thing you can always count on with the internet? People arguing about shit they know nothing about. This happens to such a level that people have posted classified government documents about tanks on the World of Tanks forums, three times. Today’s post isn’t anything nearly to that level, but it was a funny factoid that’s somewhat related. Instead I will talk about gamers bitching about Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) because they suck ass at games. Yes, I will go over the few valid complaints of SBMM.

Why I don’t write about life in China

Posted on June 30, 2022June 30, 2022 by Joshua

For those who don’t know: I am an American expat living in China. People often think I am lying about this, or are shocked by it. Some people will ask me questions about life in China and I will sometimes answer their questions. I try to avoid this topic as there are no benefits if I talk about it. If anything, it almost always results in negatives. However, there’s two things I want to talk about. I’ll write about the other one next time. Right now, I feel it’s important to talk about why I don’t talk about life in China because even with me saying what I just said there will be people who are already trying to take it out of context. I’ve seen it countless times when describing life here.

Camelot331 is a con artist

Posted on June 1, 2022June 1, 2022 by Joshua

People who know me know I am oddly out of touch with internet drama. I follow certain things because they’re hilarious, but that’s about it. I find the entire Ethan Ralph situation to be hilarious. That is why I follow it. I do not think DarkSidePhyll, Ethan from H3, Keemstar, or any other drama cows are funny. So, I do not follow them and generally just get a best of about their mooings on the internet. However, one person swept me up right away when they started causing drama. This person was Camelot331. However, by his sixth video some major cracks started to show and within 3 months the con was so obvious I am still shocked people haven’t figured it out.

When I did Keto and Intermittent fasting

Posted on May 30, 2022May 30, 2022 by Joshua

In my last post I talked about how I used to be very fat. I am still fat. I am starting my weight loss journey again to lose these last 30 LBS. Lots of people have suggested two things to me: Keto diet and intermittent fasting. I’ve seen my friend Ben lose lots of weight on the Keto diet. I’ve also seen some friends gain weight on it; they were following it exactly. I’ve also done both of these in the past. However, I did intermittent fasting by accident. Both of these were resounding failures for my health and I had to stop.

My Weight Loss Adventures and Goals

Posted on May 4, 2022May 4, 2022 by Joshua

Whenever I tell people I lost a lot of weight they always make the same joke, “Oh, looking at you I can see you’ve gained it all back.” Then comes the argument about how I must have due to me denying it. Eventually I dig up old pictures of me and people are surprised I kept the weight off. I am still fat, but I am now losing weight again. People are always impressed with my weight loss journey and will ask me what did I do. Every time I tell someone what I did to lose weight and keep it off no one thinks it works. They either ask how I really did it, or they think I am making a joke. However, I am always telling them the truth. I think I’ve written a little bit about this before on here, but I don’t think I’ve ever told the full story.

Intellivision’s weird way of running a company

Posted on April 3, 2022April 1, 2022 by Joshua

For a while I have been wanting to talk about the Amico again. However, everything about the Amico has been a bunch of small things that keep piling up. Things that seem weird but aren’t in the way people think they are. Like everyone thinks the NFTs make no sense, when they do. I was wanting to write something about the Amico using NFTs, and other companies, but there wasn’t a lot to write once I found the answer. Same thing with the CEO switch. I could write maybe 2 paragraphs on it, but not much else. The different offices? That one has the most the write about, as you will see, and could potentially be it’s own blog post. However, I don’t want to have too many things about the Amico on here and it sparked the research into the NFT stuff and more. So, here is a nice big Amico stew of things I wanted to talk about, but there just wasn’t enough meat. As a heads up to my international readers this post will be very technical. Sorry.

Don’t you know wrestling is fake?

Posted on March 16, 2022March 16, 2022 by Joshua

No shit it is fake. Everyone knows it is fake. However, this insulting question has always pissed me off. People say it in a way that tries to dismiss all of wrestling as fake. They also use the same logic towards magic. People use it like a badge to show how smart they are and yet every time I hear it I can’t help but thing, “How fucking stupid are you?” I say this as someone who doesn’t even like wrestling.

No one helps a friend

Posted on March 2, 2022March 2, 2022 by Joshua

One of the weirdest things to me is how people will say they’re friends with someone but not even peep their shit. You can forget about sharing it too. I’ve never understood this. Even online friends I meet I will try to view their stuff and share it if I can. You see on the side bar of my website are a few people’s stuff. Even if they are people I don’t agree with often; I still try to share their stuff. I’d actually like to go more in depth about how sharing, and viewing, your friends content can help dramatically.

How promoting women for doing simple tasks actually hurts women

Posted on January 28, 2022January 28, 2022 by Joshua

I don’t want to have two algorithm based posts back to back but Twitter has been really pissing me the fuck off lately. However, through Twitter’s bad algorithm of showing “posts you’re interested in” I’ve noticed a giant trend that I think is doing a lot of harm to people. I believe the damage it is doing is way bigger than what people think. What’s interesting is the first time I noticed this was from STEM people I followed, but with Twitter’s busted algorithm I’ve noticed it’s much wider spread than I thought. What is it? Encouragement inequality.

YouTube’s perfect, but broken, algorithm

Posted on January 18, 2022January 18, 2022 by Joshua

A lot of people don’t know this but a hobby of mine is exploiting algorithms. I used to love to do SEO stuff on numerous websites. In fact, in the previous article about Jack Murphy I mentioned that. Right after posting it, I do mean the second I posted it, I had a few bots hit the article. Originally I intended to link to random stuff about Mr. Murphy. However, with him flagging down content constantly that makes it impossible. Why does that matter? Well, to optimize your SEO you need to link to external sites. It also ups it if you have external sites linking to you. Essentially Google, Bing, Yahoo, and all other search engines favor sites that give out a lot of external links and have external links to them. Once you understand this you learn a lot about how the internet works.

Sites like YouTube modify this with hidden algorithms. Which is why people like me used to spend hours testing it and seeing how we could optimize it. This is also why YouTube removed stuff like the P-Score being public, and dislikes. Every bit of data they can hide from people prevents us from learning how it works. Speaking of YouTube. I want to talk about a different algorithm on YouTube that no one mentions outside of comments on older videos. “Thank you YouTube recommendations”.
