Heyo everyone! Sorry for being gone for so long. I wanted to take May off to focus on life. I managed to write something to post on June 1st, but I haven’t finished editing it due to recent events that have happened. I’m also currently moving so shit has been delayed. Expect me to be off for a bit longer, possibly 2 weeks. With that said I finally added a working comment system. It’s Disqus, so it wasn’t hard to implement. If you’re wondering why I landed on Disqus, then keep on reading. It’s a tale of me getting banned from a few APIs and weird production errors.

If you’ve been paying attention to tech news lately you’ll notice there’s been 3 major hacks. Western Digital, Linus Tech Tips, and MSI were all recently hacked. Linus Tech Tips had their YouTube channels taken over by bitcoin scammers pretending to be Elon Musk with AI tech. MSI had all of their internal data stolen and it hasn’t been released yet, but the hackers are threatening to do so if MSI doesn’t pay. Finally Western Digital had a lot of their internal services compromised, and possibly their cloud services. We’re not entirely sure how deep the Western Digital hack goes but due to those cloud services it’s possible hackers could have whatever you uploaded to their cloud services. What AMAZING hackers could take down such large tech companies? HOW!? It’s simple: Phishing.

I’m going to break my usual rule of not writing about active drama for this post. I have this rule because things can rapidly change. See my Activision Blizzard post where I said Bobby Kottick most likely had no idea what was happening. Whoops, had I waited 1 week that article would’ve been very different in tone. My bad. However, I feel this is different because I will be talking about past dots with current drama that no one seems to be linking together. Yeah, it is about Creator Clash booting Froggy Fresh. Yet what I am really going to write about is Sam Hyde’s well documented humiliation of Ian AKA Idubbz.

Hey y’all! Joshua here. Would you look at that not only did I do a regular blog post but here I am showing off what’s new too! I should also explain what happened between updates.

One of the things that always fascinates me is when internet boomers talk about the old net. Despite all of us being online at the same time almost none of us used the same sites. We were all on different sectors of the internet, back when that phrase actually meant something. Today people will say they’re in different sectors but what they really mean is they’re just zeroing in on certain topics via the same sites. People who focus on different types of drama and where different internet etiquettes are followed call those sectors now. Not to sound too boomery but that’s not a sector. The internet of yore was sectioned off. The few social media sites that existed back then were competing with each other, which kept us split up. Previously I talked about how I made money by flaming people and reporting stores. See, I was in the money making/prize sector of the internet. Sites like Paypup, Swagbucks (who is somehow still alive), and tons more I can’t remember the names of anymore. Last time I also mentioned getting paid to help companies who make high fructose corn syrup. The internet used to be a wild place.

I have worked a lot of odd jobs in my life. “Wait, what the hell does that have to do with the title?” Here, let me rephrase that. I’ve worked a lot of odd jobs online in my life. There’s lots of ways to make a quick buck doing shady shit. I’ve done things from work with high fructose corn syrup propaganda groups to help them trick customers into thinking it’s better than sugar to being an eBay hitman. I’m sure you’re laughing at eBay hitman, but I shit you not that’s what I was called by the contractor. It was not a title I chose. People are just now realizing that Google is nothing but an abused SEO tool that barely functions as an authentic search engine. What’s shocked me is people haven’t realized user reviews are fake.

Excuse the short post. If you’re wondering what’s happening to Twitter right now and why you’re reaching limits on everything. Please allow me to explain. Recently Twitter announced they’re changing the API system. I made a post about the ramifications it could have the other day. I did not expect it to have this massive blowback.

Some people have asked why don’t I make video essays. A few have suggested I make a YouTube channel like so many others and just blabber on for 15+ minutes wasting your time. I think YouTube, and other video streaming sites, work best for content that relies on audio and visual. My website doesn’t even rely on audio. Even if I were to read the posts to you nothing would be gained. I make stuff here designed for a purely textual level. Because of this you can just read it at a pace that is comfortable with you and easily find what you need.

Twitter is effectively killing their API system and this has a lot of people confused as to what this means. Most important: Your Twitter account will still work. I’ve seen people saying Twitter will start to charge for regular Twitter use. No, that is far from the truth. What’s happening is people who use Twitter’s API system will now have to pay a minimum of $150/mo. As someone who uses Twitter’s API system I can actually break down what’s happening, and the effect it’ll have.

I just realized I don’t write about myself too often. Weird isn’t it? It’s my personal blog and I spend time writing about random things from game dev to shit I find interesting. I used to write a lot about myself, but I just stopped. Today I want to write about the thing I used to hate the most about myself, and what I hate the most in others, being a doomer. Yeah, if you’ve only recently gotten to know me you’d be surprised to find out I used to be a hardcore doomer. Now I see it everywhere and it’s just annoying. I now understand why a lot of people cut me out of their lives. Some people will act as if you said the most offensive thing if you try to point out why something is worth caring about and how fixing it would fix their current situation, or stop it from getting worse. If they don’t find it offensive they just act like a victim and will try to make you feel bad for trying to encourage them/stop them from making shit worse. Especially if you bring up something they’re doing, but denying responsibility for.
